Dr. Michael Shanik is a board-certified endocrinologist and internal medicine physician. He is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and of the American College of Physicians and serves on several committees for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He received the Harold Vigersky Practicing Physician Award from the Endocrine Society (2012); was named Community Physician Teacher of the Year, Department of Family Medicine, at Stony Brook University Medical Center (2009); and has been featured in the Consumers’ Research Council of America’s “Guide to America’s Top Physicians” (2007-2011). He earned his bachelor of science degree from Tufts University and medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his internal medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY and a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Lake Success, NY.
